Ulstein Marine Technology AS (UMT)  can trace it’s history back to 1917. The company was established in 2000, and is the parent of a group of companies delivering products and services for the maritime industry world wide.

ULMATEC headquarter is located in Ulsteinvik, at the Norwegian West coast.

UMT has production sites located accross Sunnmøre, Tromsø, Stavanger, and Oslo. The group continues to expand both organically and through aquisition.

Ulstein Marine Technology AS designs and manufactures specialized equipment solutions, for the marine & offshore subsea segment. As a part of the Group’s expansion plans, Ulmatec opens a Representative office in Asia, with Singapore as location.  The office will operate as a regional hub for the decisive launch into Asia Pacific . Sit Kok Lee, a local Singaporean, has been employed to start up and oversee Ulmatec’s planned activities in the coming months. Sit, who used to hold senior managerial roles in Rolls-Royce and ODIM, represents more than 25 years of sales & marketing experience in the region.  When asked to comment, Sit said, “ There will never be a perfect time for any market entry.  Each company’s situation is different and we all have to count our costs.  I firmly believe that this is the right moment for Ulmatec to step up activitiy in Asia”. STROMEK AS located on Hareid, is a company within ULMATEC Group. STROMEK AS has signed a contract for the supply of two automated handling systems for remote-controlled underwater vessels; ROV, or Stromek LARS (Launch and recovery system), that will be operated through two ROV moonpools. In addition there should be delivered one special designed main-moonpool hatch of SWL250ton. This is for installation of modules on subsea. It should be possible to lower the door into the moonpool during operation and to be operated with Stromek intervention tower. The equipment should be delivered in the end of 2010 and will provide STROMEK and more of the companies within ULMATEC Group good employment in the future. The order is signed with a major international operator and is the result of close cooperation between Stromek, several of ULMATEC Group Company and customer. The order is valued at over NOK 40mill + options.
